Microsoft Copilot: Work, transformed
Lesson video
View work as a set of tasks
Do not assume AI replaces an entire occupation. Break work into tasks such as gathering information, drafting, quality review, decisions, and communication. Some may be augmented while others require context and accountability.
Map skills
Skills include framing problems, reading data, checking answers, communicating, understanding users, and collaborating. List skills and evidence of proficiency, then choose a gap connected to a real work goal.
Experiment and measure
Define the question, scope, data, owner, and stop conditions. Measure quality, time, rework, and user experience against the previous method. Pause if there is no owner or a high risk emerges.
Set team principles
Agree on permitted tools and data, review methods, disclosure, and accountability when errors occur.
Plan the transition together
Explain the reasons, scope, and unknowns. Let staff practise and give feedback, provide time and support, and review the workload after the change.
Applied case study and evidence review
Decompose an existing role to plan skills development
